So i change the underlay parameter you find this is the properties palette to the level where your roof or roof light canopy etc resides.
Open the level 2 plan view.

When the underlay orientation is set to look up then the underlay displays as if you are viewing it from below like a reflected ceiling plan.
However i m noticing when i m doing this in revit it is as if it is looking from.
Allow underlays of reflected ceiling plans in floor plans revit does not currently allow you to underlay a regular floor plan with a reflected ceiling plan.
In this example my roof element is at level 1.
Ive told him he can make a reflected ceiling plan with the ductwork and air terminals turned on but they didnt like how it looked.
Why would i want to do that.
Because i often want to show roof eaves or other architectural features that are above the cut plane of a plan sometimes way above.
In this simple exercise file there are four walls and some desks placed at level 1.
In order to show the elements from the first level here you can underlay them in the view.
On the properties palette for underlay orientation select look up or look down.
And now i need to set it s underlay to show the roof element.
One of the engineers in the office asked a fellow cad guy to plot him the floor plans with ceiling grid turned on.
Once i do this my roof element become visible in the ground floor plan.
In revit that is no small task like it would be in autocad.
You can underlay the furniture in a reflected ceiling plan view.
They want the floor plan orientation but with grid turned on.
